RCB Fans Across Bengaluru Launch Victory Celebrations Before Winning Runs are Scored

On May 31, 2026, cricket fans across Bengaluru, including hundreds gathered at Kanakapura Road, erupted into pre-emptive victory celebrations and victory laps before Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had even scored the final winning runs to retain their IPL title.

With local police orders restricting large public screenings and roadside gatherings on the city's streets, supporters shifted their celebrations indoors. Theatres, pubs, and residential apartments across neighbourhoods were transformed into mini-stadia as the title chase narrowed.

At the Forum South Bengaluru mall on Kanakapura Road, a PVR theatre screening of the final match drew hundreds of fans. Abhishek R, a 27-year-old attendee, said he and his friends sought out the theatre to experience the shared excitement and crowd atmosphere of the final.

Another fan from Kanakapura Road, Kiran Ramesh, expressed that the back-to-back titles showed the team's consistency, adding that RCB is "pure emotion" for supporters who have stood by the franchise through every season.

Licensed venues and pubs also saw high demand due to the restrictions on outdoor screenings. Sid Patil, the owner of Toca Pub, reported that reservations across his three outlets were completely booked well in advance of the match.

In Rajarajeshwari Nagar, residents chose to host private gatherings at home. Local resident Vasupratha KR hosted a watch party for friends, noting that the cheers grew louder and the conversation shifted to celebration plans as wickets fell and the match tilted decisively in RCB's favour.

Online, the mood was equally celebratory, with fans updating the famous slogan "Ee Sala Cup Namde" to "Prati Sala Cup Namde," meaning "the cup is ours every time."

Anticipating large crowds after the match, the Bengaluru traffic police set up restrictions on several major flyovers and increased police deployment at key locations across the city to manage the celebrations.
