Karnataka Leadership Speculation Sparks Social Media Tributes to Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar

Recent speculation regarding a potential change in Karnataka's leadership triggered a wave of social media tributes and intense online speculation in Bengaluru. Rumours circulating that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah could step down and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar might take over prompted supporters of both leaders to flood social media platforms with cinematic edits, speeches, and memes.
Within hours of the rumours spreading, timelines on platforms such as X, Instagram, and YouTube were packed with cinematic compilations celebrating the two Congress leaders. The online activity quickly transformed into a showcase of political fandom, nostalgia, and what users described as political "aura farming."
For Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the online response from supporters was largely sentimental. Users widely shared videos of the veteran leader dancing at public events, emotional moments involving his staff, and clips of legislators greeting him inside the Vidhana Soudha. One particular video showing leaders walking up to Siddaramaiah’s seat to greet him was repeatedly shared with dramatic movie background scores.
Supporters also recirculated Siddaramaiah's old speeches. These included his sharp remarks against Janardhana Reddy in Ballari and fiery exchanges inside the Assembly. Users reposted these clips across multiple platforms, calling him a grounded mass leader who never forgot his roots.
Meanwhile, supporters of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar focused heavily on his political journey and resilience. Online edits traced his rise from a student leader to one of the Congress party's most influential faces in Karnataka politics.
Clips of Shivakumar's speeches were paired with dramatic visuals, including edits featuring animated fire emojis in his eyes. Videos from the period of his imprisonment also resurfaced, particularly his remarks about continuing to fight politically without backing down. Supporters extensively used the hashtag "DKforCM" to project him as the party's loyal troubleshooter.
