DK Shivakumar Uses Luxury Fashion Labels to Build Political Brand in Bengaluru

Karnataka Congress chief and Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar is building a distinct political brand in Bengaluru by blending traditional Indian attire with ultra-luxury global fashion labels. While many politicians consciously cultivate an image of austerity through simple kurta-pyjamas, Shivakumar has openly integrated premium brands into his wardrobe. He notably wore a luxury Louis Vuitton scarf during a public visit to a garbage segregation plant on Hosur Road in Bengaluru.
Shivakumar’s wardrobe features a mix of crisp white kurtas, silk dhotis, monogrammed garments, and designer scarves. He frequently flaunts high-end labels including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Prada, Burberry, and Gucci. His accessories also include luxury sunglasses and premium timepieces from luxury watchmakers Rolex and Cartier.
According to associates, Shivakumar’s clothing choices are rarely incidental. He carefully selects his outfits with assistance from family members and a close circle of friends. His attire is chosen based on the specific nature of his engagements, whether he is attending a political rally, a cultural function, an official meeting, or traveling overseas.
White remains the dominant color in Shivakumar’s wardrobe, symbolising simplicity, discipline, and his decades-long association with the Congress party. However, he frequently experiments with pastel shades, earthy tones, and custom-tailored jackets to add a contemporary touch to his public appearances.
During political and cultural events, Shivakumar is most commonly seen in elegant kurtas paired with vibrant scarves and stoles, which are noted as his favorite accessories. For formal functions, he occasionally wears Nehru jackets and impeccably tailored bandhgalas.
When traveling for international visits and business engagements, Shivakumar regularly transitions to sharp blazers and bespoke suits to project a corporate and global image. Through these deliberate style choices, he has established himself as one of Karnataka’s most fashion-conscious political figures.
