Madiwala Police Arrest Three More Aides of Inspector in Rs 20 Lakh Dacoity Case

The Madiwala police in Bengaluru arrested three more individuals on Wednesday in connection with an ongoing investigation into a Rs 20-lakh dacoity case. The arrested suspects, identified as Shafi and Haris from Madikeri, and Rashid from Kerala, are alleged to be the aides of a police inspector who is also implicated in the armed robbery.
The arrests follow the previous detention of police inspector Mahesh Kanakagiri and his other two aides, Kupendra Reddy and Vasanth Kumar, who were already taken into custody. The case has drawn significant attention due to the direct involvement of active law enforcement personnel in a serious criminal conspiracy.
According to police reports, the dacoity took place on June 15. The suspects allegedly targeted a businessman from Kerala, identified as Junish Babu AK. The group planned and executed the robbery by staging a fake police raid at a hotel.
To carry out the crime, the group utilized an official police sport utility vehicle (SUV) that carried a CID insignia. The vehicle had been officially allotted to Inspector Kanakagiri. The suspects used the authority of the police vehicle to confront Junish Babu AK, accusing him of being involved in illegal activities, specifically money laundering and drug peddling.
Under the guise of conducting an official investigation into these alleged crimes, the gang managed to rob the businessman of Rs 20 lakh. The Madiwala police subsequently registered a case and initiated a probe into the dacoity, which has now led to the arrest of six individuals in total, including the inspector, his initial two accomplices, and the three aides apprehended on Wednesday.
