Domestic Help Accused Of Stealing Rs 25 Lakh From Jnanabharati Layout House

A domestic help who had been employed by a Bengaluru family for more than ten years has been accused of stealing approximately Rs 25 lakh from her employer’s residence in Jnanabharati Layout. Following the discovery of the theft, local police officials from the Rajarajeshwarinagar station managed to track down and recover Rs 15 lakh of the stolen cash.

The incident came to light when the employer, a businessman named Bhadrirangan B, discovered that the cash he had stored inside a household wardrobe was missing. Bhadrirangan explained to the police that the cash was the proceeds from the sale of a plot of land nearly two years ago. The family had been saving the money specifically to purchase a new property.

According to police reports, the key to the wardrobe where the cash was stored was kept in a drawer located near the television unit. After discovering that the money was gone, Bhadrirangan questioned both his wife and his mother to see if they had moved or used the cash. When both family members confirmed they knew nothing about the missing funds, the businessman decided to review his home's CCTV camera footage.

The security footage showed the domestic help, identified as Ratnamma, allegedly stealing the money from the wardrobe on several different occasions.

Following the discovery, the Rajarajeshwarinagar police were notified and initiated an investigation. When police officers visited Ratnamma's residence, she was missing. However, her daughter was present at the home and admitted to the police that her mother had a role in the theft.

A subsequent search of the residence by the police team led to the recovery of Rs 15 lakh of the stolen cash. The search for the accused domestic help continues as she remains missing.
