DK Shivakumar to be sworn in as Karnataka Chief Minister on June 3

BENGALURU — Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is set to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka on June 3. The announcement was made by All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K C Venugopal on Saturday.
The decision follows a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), where Shivakumar was unanimously elected as the new leader of the CLP. Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, Venugopal stated that Shivakumar secured unanimous support from all party legislators.
According to Venugopal, Shivakumar will soon stake claim to form the government in Karnataka.
Looking ahead, Venugopal also declared that the Indian National Congress will return to power in Karnataka under Shivakumar's leadership in the 2028 assembly elections.
This announcement serves as a significant high-command endorsement for Shivakumar. By naming him to lead the party into the 2028 targeted election year, the Congress leadership has projected him as the key figure to guide the party's future in the state.
