Bengaluru to Close KR Pura and Whitefield Roads Next Week for Railway Work

Major roads in the KR Pura and Whitefield areas of Bengaluru will be closed to traffic next week. The South Western Railway is preparing to replace the concrete slab at the Lowry Road underbridge, which is located near the KR Pura railway station. This upcoming work is expected to cause traffic disruptions and will require commuters to use alternative routes.
According to local authorities, the stretch of road leading towards Ramamurthy Nagar and ITI Colony through the Lowry Road underbridge will be fully closed. This closure is scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 4, and will continue through Tuesday, June 9. Commuters who normally travel along this route must plan for diversions during this period.
To assist drivers during the closure of the underbridge, officials have advised commuters to use the KR Pura cable-stayed bridge. This alternative route will allow motorists to reach ITI Colony, Ramamurthy Nagar, and KR Pura while the underbridge remains closed for the railway work.
In addition to the underbridge closure, parts of the KR Pura-Whitefield stretch will also experience closures next week. South Western Railway officials clarified that the closure on this stretch will not affect the entire road, as only a one-kilometer section starting from KR Pura will be closed. Commuters traveling to ITPL and Whitefield are directed to use the KR Pura cable-stayed bridge to bypass the closed section.
Furthermore, a 500-meter section of ITPL Main Road is scheduled for a temporary 12-hour closure. This specific road closure will start at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, and will remain in effect until 6:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8. Commuters in the KR Pura and Whitefield areas are encouraged to keep these dates and times in mind to avoid delays.
