Bengaluru Police Seize Drugs Worth ₹55.80 Crore, Arrest 39 Peddlers
The Bengaluru city police seized narcotics worth ₹55.80 crore and arrested 39 drug peddlers during a major anti-narcotics crackdown across several police station limits, including Girinagar, Amruthahalli, Yeshwanthpur, and Yelahanka. Bengaluru City Commissioner of Police Seemant Kumar Singh announced details of the special operation on August 10, 2026.
The arrested individuals include eight foreign nationals, 21 people from other states, and 10 local residents. According to the police, the accused procured banned drugs at low prices from foreign, inter-state, and unidentified suppliers and sold them at higher prices to the public, including college students across the city.
During the drive, police confiscated 21.641 kg of MDMA, 738 g of cocaine, 4.493 kg of hydroponic weed, 184.625 kg of weed, 1.065 kg of opium, and 25 g of mephedrone. Officers also seized 22 mobile phones, five two-wheelers, and ₹17 lakh in cash from the accused.
In one of the prominent cases, the Girinagar police arrested a French national, Demba Jouma Francis, and seized 4.378 kg of MDMA valued at around ₹10.36 crore. Police stated that Francis procured drugs at low prices after establishing contact with African drug suppliers in Delhi, transported them to Bengaluru, and operated out of a rented house at Shivakote in Yelahanka.
In another major seizure, the Amruthahalli police recovered 14.436 kg of MDMA worth approximately ₹28.88 crore. Additionally, the Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch arrested four persons, including foreign nationals, across three cases and seized drugs worth ₹8.88 crore, including 738 g of cocaine, 336 g of MDMA, and 82.305 kg of ganja.
Operations across other stations yielded further recoveries. The Kempegowda International Airport police seized 4.278 kg of hydro ganja worth around ₹3 crore across three cases. The Yeshwanthpur police seized 650 g of MDMA and 41.446 kg of ganja worth ₹1.71 crore, while the Yelahanka police confiscated 794 g of MDMA valued at ₹1.59 crore.
All 39 accused were produced before courts on different dates and remanded in judicial custody. Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh stated that police efforts are continuing to trace the unidentified suppliers who provided the drugs to the accused.
