Bengaluru police announce major CBD traffic curbs for CM swearing in on Wednesday

Bengaluru traffic authorities have announced extensive traffic diversions and parking restrictions across the Central Business District (CBD) on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, to facilitate the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister. The high-profile event, scheduled for 4:00 PM at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan, is expected to choke major roads, prompting police to advise motorists heading toward Hebbal, the airport, and Shivajinagar to take alternative routes.

The traffic curbs and diversions will be in place from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Traffic police warned commuters to expect heavy congestion around Lok Bhavan, Race Course Road, Cubbon Road, Queens Road, Dr BR Ambedkar Road, and adjoining areas. Access to the swearing-in venue itself will be strictly limited to invited guests.

To manage the expected influx of VVIP convoys and top dignitaries, several key roads will be closed to general traffic. These include stretches of Cubbon Road, Race Course Road, Dr BR Ambedkar Road, and other routes leading directly to Lok Bhavan.

Commuters travelling to northern parts of the city, including Hebbal, are advised to bypass the affected areas by using Cunningham Road, Vasanthanagar, Nrupathunga Road, or the Outer Ring Road.

In addition to road closures, parking will be completely prohibited on more than 20 major roads in and around the CBD. The parking ban covers key stretches such as Queens Road, Palace Road, Kasturba Road, Miller Road, Infantry Road, KG Road, Nrupathunga Road, and the internal roads within Cubbon Park.

Special parking zones have been designated for pass holders and the general public. These parking spaces are located at Vidhana Soudha, Nehru Planetarium, Kanteerava Stadium, UB City, Government Arts College, Shivajinagar Multi-Level Parking, and Palace Grounds.

Furthermore, heavy vehicle movement within Bengaluru city limits will be completely restricted between 12:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Wednesday to ease congestion and ensure the smooth movement of VVIP convoys.

Traffic police have urged residents and commuters to plan their journeys in advance, avoid the CBD area where possible, and opt for public transport to minimize travel delays during the event.
