Zameer Ahmed Khan Declines Vijayanagar In-Charge Role Citing Lack of Time

Karnataka Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan has declined to take up the responsibility of serving as the district in-charge minister for Vijayanagar, citing a lack of time due to upcoming political and organisational commitments.

Khan, who serves as the MLA for Chamarajpet, communicated his decision in a letter addressed to Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, requesting that no district be assigned to him.

In his letter, Khan explained that his schedule would be occupied with preparations for upcoming electoral contests and party organisation. Specifically, he highlighted impending local body polls, including the Greater Bengaluru Authority, as well as Assembly bypolls.

“In the coming days, keeping in mind local body elections, including (Greater Bengaluru Authority), Assembly bypolls and the party organisation, I won’t have time to carry out the responsibility of a district minister. I request you not to assign any district to me,” Khan stated in the communication.

Following his request, the minister has also sought an exemption from hoisting the national Tricolour in Vijayanagar during the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.

Khan previously held charge of Vijayanagar district during the earlier Siddaramaiah-led government. He noted to Shivakumar that he has already completed and submitted an assessment report on the drought situation in the district.
