Youth arrested for attacking police during RCB IPL win celebrations in Banasawadi

The Bengaluru police have arrested a 22-year-old resident of KR Pura for allegedly attacking police officers in Banasawadi during the late-night celebrations of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) victory in the IPL final.

The arrested suspect, identified as Sudesh, is employed at a private firm. According to police reports, he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the violent confrontation, which took place late on Sunday night.

The incident began around 11:30 p.m. when three men arrived in the Banasawadi area riding together on a motorcycle. The group allegedly began shouting slogans at the top of their voices in support of RCB, causing a significant disturbance and inconvenience to the members of the public gathered in the area.

On-duty police officers approached the men and advised them to remain quiet and not to create a disturbance. However, this advice caused the situation to escalate. Sudesh reportedly got off the motorcycle to confront the officers directly. He then allegedly began abusing the policemen verbally, grabbed an active police constable, and pushed him to the ground.

When the other officers present at the scene stepped in to apprehend Sudesh, the other two men who had arrived with him on the motorcycle joined the physical struggle. After clashing with the officers, the trio abandoned their motorcycle at the scene of the incident and fled on foot to evade arrest.

The police department initiated an investigation using the registration details of the abandoned motorcycle left behind by the fleeing suspects. By tracking these vehicle records, investigators were able to identify Sudesh, leading to his arrest. He has been taken into police custody as the investigation continues.
