Woman Dragged by Chain-Snatchers Near Kadugodi Bridge Dies in Hospital

A 35-year-old woman died at a private hospital in Bellandur on Tuesday evening, days after she was dragged along the road by chain-snatchers near the Kadugodi-Bisanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru.

The victim, identified as Radhamma, was a resident of Thirumanahalli village near Tayalur in Mulbagal taluk. She had travelled from Mulbagal to stay at her residence in Kundalahalli on August 15.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning when Radhamma alighted from an autorickshaw near the Kadugodi-Bisanahalli Bridge. While she was walking, two unidentified individuals riding a two-wheeler approached her and attempted to snatch her gold mangalsutra, which weighed nearly 60 grams.

When Radhamma resisted the robbery attempt, the assailants allegedly dragged her for approximately 30 metres. The struggle caused severe injuries to her neck and several other parts of her body. The duo then escaped from the spot on their vehicle.

Passers-by who witnessed the attack rushed Radhamma to a nearby medical facility for initial treatment. Due to the critical nature of her injuries, she was later shifted to a private hospital in Bellandur. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday evening.

Following the completion of the postmortem examination, Radhamma's body was handed over to her family and taken to Thirumanahalli village for the final rites. The Kadugodi police have registered a case and launched a search operation to identify and apprehend the two chain-snatchers involved in the attack.
