Whitefield-Bound Family Stranded for Two Hours After SUV Crash on Bagaluru Road

Whitefield-Bound Family Stranded for Two Hours After SUV Crash on Bagaluru Road

A Whitefield-bound family travelling from Kempegowda International Airport was allegedly left stranded for over two hours after a speeding SUV rammed into their car on Bagaluru Road late Saturday night. The incident occurred around 11:30 pm near the GAIL Gas Service Centre, leaving the family car severely damaged and its occupants injured.

According to the FIR registered by the Chikkajala Traffic Police, 38-year-old Mayur Pandey was driving towards Whitefield with his wife, mother, and five-year-old son when the accident took place. A speeding SUV, allegedly driven in a rash manner, crashed directly into the right side of their vehicle.

The force of the collision heavily damaged the car door and triggered the deployment of the vehicle's airbags, completely immobilising it. Pandey sustained an injury to his right hand, while his wife, mother, and young son suffered minor injuries in the impact.

Following the crash, the family alleged that the Chikkajala Traffic Police failed to provide prompt emergency assistance despite repeated phone calls. The victims stated that they remained stuck at the accident spot for more than two hours without any support or assistance vehicle being dispatched.

Pandey later took to social media to share the ordeal, explaining that the family eventually had to arrange private transportation to reach the police station. This required them to leave their severely damaged and unsecured vehicle abandoned on the roadside in the middle of the night.

The family further stated that police personnel did not immediately inspect or document the accident spot, citing a shortage of staff and explaining that an FIR had to be registered prior to any inspection. The victims had to arrange their own towing services, with the formal vehicle handover finally taking place around 4:30 am.

The Chikkajala Traffic Police have registered a case against the SUV driver, identified as Partha Sarathi Reddy, under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Both vehicles have been impounded for RTO inspection, while the family has sought intervention from senior police officials regarding the alleged lapses in the initial response.
