Two Arrested for Operating Illegal Hookah Bar in Kenchanapura House

Two men, including a senior analyst employed with a private firm, were arrested by the police for allegedly operating an illegal hookah bar from a rented residential property in Kenchanapura village under the Kumbalgodu police station limits in Bengaluru.

The arrested accused have been identified by the authorities as 28-year-old Ajith Nayak and 25-year-old Varun K.R. Police stated that Nayak is a civil engineer by qualification and works as a senior analyst in a private firm, while Varun is employed as a service assistant.

According to officers from the Kumbalgodu police station, the police team received credible information on August 31 that the two men had rented a residential house located at Kenchanapura to operate an unauthorised hookah establishment. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a police team raided the premises in the presence of witnesses.

During the search, the police team found the duo allegedly operating the hookah facility on the first floor of the house. Investigators noted that the residential building belongs to a person identified as Bhagyamma.

Following the raid, police seized a range of materials used for the illicit setup. The confiscated items include five hookah pots, three hookah pipes, two boxes of hookah pots, three used hookah flavours, partially used charcoal, and ₹450 in cash found at the location.

The Kumbalgodu police have registered a case against the accused individuals. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway to ascertain whether any other associates or patrons were involved in operating the facility. Police officials added that they are also probing the role, if any, of the property owner, Bhagyamma, in allowing the hookah bar to function on the rented premises.
