Travel Operators Demand High-Level Inquiry Into NICE Road Project

BENGALURU — The Karnataka State Travel Operators’ Association has urged the Karnataka state government to order a high-level inquiry into the implementation of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC)-NICE project, alleging violations of the original agreement terms.

In a formal representation submitted on Monday to DK Shivakumar and Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, association president K Radhakrishna Holla called for immediate government intervention in the public interest.

The association stated that the project has not been executed in accordance with the terms and conditions agreed upon with the government. Holla demanded a thorough probe into the manner of implementation and compliance with the initial pact, alongside a detailed scrutiny of the utilisation of land, assets, rights, and other benefits provided for the corridor.

Demanding decisive action, the travel operators' body said the state government should take over the NICE road if the inquiry confirms violations of the agreement.

Additionally, the association demanded that toll collection along the corridor be halted immediately until the proposed inquiry concludes and the legal and contractual status of the project is clearly established.
