Tipper Lorry Crosses Median, Crashes Into Concrete Mixer Truck on Yeshwanthpur Main Road

A speeding tipper lorry driver lost control and crashed head-on into a concrete mixer truck on Yeshwanthpur Main Road in Bengaluru. According to the police, the collision occurred due to the negligent and high-speed driving of the lorry driver.

The concrete mixer truck was traveling in the opposite direction when the speeding tipper lorry crossed over a concrete median on the road, leading to the direct collision.

The crash caused severe damage to both heavy vehicles and disrupted the flow of traffic on Yeshwanthpur Main Road. Bengaluru police personnel deployed cranes to clear the damaged vehicles from the carriageway before traffic could be fully restored.

According to traffic police officials, this incident is part of a larger pattern of reckless driving by heavy commercial vehicle operators in Bengaluru. Heavy vehicles account for a significant portion of fatal road accidents in the city, despite making up only a small fraction of the total daily traffic.

Police officials stated that speeding, rash lane changes, distracted driving, overloading, and driver fatigue are the primary reasons behind such accidents.

Commuters in Bengaluru have frequently raised concerns regarding heavy vehicles operating at high speeds, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours when traffic enforcement is reduced. Motorists have reported issues such as trucks abruptly changing lanes, ignoring traffic signals, and stopping indiscriminately on roads, which significantly increases the risk of collisions.

In response to the rising number of accidents involving heavy vehicles, officials noted that they are increasingly utilizing surveillance cameras, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) systems, and speed detection equipment to identify traffic violators and issue penalties. Repeat offenders face the risk of driving license suspension and further legal action.
