Three Men Rob Soft Drink Delivery Van of Rs 45,000 at Knife-Point in Kodathi

Three unidentified men on Saturday evening robbed soft drink delivery workers of Rs 45,000 in cash after jumping onto their moving delivery van at Kodathi, located within the Varthur police station limits in Bengaluru. The robbery took place between 7:00 pm and 7:15 pm near the local panchayat office as the workers were returning from their daily delivery rounds.

The complaint regarding the robbery was filed by 24-year-old G Munna Kumar, a resident of Kodathi Gate on Sarjapur Main Road. Munna Kumar works for a distributor located near Kodathi Gate that receives soft drinks from manufacturers and supplies them to local shops. On the evening of the incident, Munna Kumar along with his colleagues Ajay Kumar, who was driving the van, and Girish, were returning after completing their distribution work.

The delivery team had collected cash from 25 to 30 shops situated on Hosa Road, Kudlu Road, Begur Road, and other surrounding areas after delivering soft drink bottles. As they were returning to their company premises, Ajay, the van driver, slowed the vehicle down at a road hump near the panchayat office in Kodathi.

One of the accused entered the van through the left side door while it was moving, threatened the three employees with a knife, and instructed the driver to keep driving. Within a distance of 200 meters, a second accused entered the van while a third accused followed the vehicle on a bike. The two accused inside the van robbed the workers of their daily cash collection totaling Rs 45,000.

The two men inside the van then escaped on the motorcycle with the third accomplice. Police officers noted that the accused appeared to know that the staff would be returning after collecting cash from shops. Investigators are currently checking whether any of the accused were known to the three delivery workers.
