Three arrested in Bengaluru for creating morphed AI images of actress Rukmini Vasanth

The Bengaluru Cybercrime police have arrested three individuals for allegedly creating and circulating AI-generated objectionable images and videos of Sandalwood actress Rukmini Vasanth on social media. The arrests, confirmed by authorities by June 20, 2026, involved suspects associated with Bengaluru localities including Kamakshipalya and Manjunathnagar.

The police identified the three arrested suspects as Ravikumar, Chandrakanth, and Ranjith.

Ravikumar, aged 24, is a resident of Chilakamukhi village, located in the Bagalkot district.

Chandrakanth, aged 33, currently resides in the Kamakshipalya area of Bengaluru and is a native of Thirthahalli in the Shivamogga district.

Ranjith, aged 25, is a resident of the Manjunathnagar locality in Bengaluru.

According to the cybercrime investigators, the suspects utilized artificial intelligence tools to fabricate and morph images and videos of the actress. This digital content was then shared and distributed across multiple social media platforms.

The police stated that these fabricated media files were designed to depict the actress in a highly derogatory manner. According to law enforcement officials, the creation and dissemination of these deepfakes damaged Rukmini Vasanth's public reputation, severely violated her personal privacy, and subjected her to significant mental distress.

The action by the Bengaluru Cybercrime police highlights growing law enforcement measures against the unauthorized use of artificial intelligence technology and the spread of malicious deepfakes targeting public figures.
