Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan Set for Digital Premiere on Zee5 on August 21

Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay's political action-drama Jana Nayagan is scheduled to make its digital premiere on Zee5 on August 21, 2026. The streaming platform confirmed the release date following the movie's global theatrical run, marking an OTT debut less than a month after it first arrived in cinemas.

Zee5 officially announced the streaming date across its social media channels accompanied by an animated promotional clip. The film will be available for digital viewing in its original Tamil language, alongside dubbed versions in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Jana Nayagan serves as Vijay's farewell project as a mainstream actor as he transitions into full-time politics. Written and directed by H Vinoth, the political thriller features an ensemble cast that includes Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, and Prakash Raj in key roles.

The feature film was produced by Venkat K Narayana under the banner KVN Productions and released in theatres on July 23, 2026, following censorship and scheduling delays. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the movie went on to cross the Rs 300-crore mark at the global box office. The soundtrack for the project was composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with lyrics penned by Vivek.

While initial trade reports suggested that digital distribution rights had been linked to Amazon Prime Video, negotiations ultimately concluded with Zee5 securing the global streaming rights for the title.
