Techie Dies, Man Injured After Falling from 7th Floor of Whitefield PG

A 23-year-old software engineer died and a 30-year-old man sustained critical injuries after they allegedly jumped from the seventh floor of a paying guest accommodation on ECC Road in Whitefield on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Janani Perumal, an IT professional originally from Puducherry who worked with a private firm in Pattandur Agrahara. She was residing at the Radha Krishna Co-Live PG facility on ECC Road.

The injured man, identified as 30-year-old Manichavelu, is a resident of Nallathur in the Union Territory of Puducherry and works with a logistics company there.

According to the Whitefield police, the duo went up to the seventh floor of the PG building on Sunday and allegedly jumped. Janani died on the spot due to the impact of the fall, while Manichavelu survived but sustained severe injuries.

Local residents who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the police. Emergency responders and police personnel reached the location shortly after and transported the injured man to a nearby hospital for treatment. Janani's body was shifted to a mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Police officials stated that Manichavelu suffered multiple fractures and is currently undergoing medical evaluation. Investigators are working to ascertain the full extent of his injuries.

The Whitefield police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers are examining the background of both individuals and investigating whether they were acquaintances or in a relationship, as well as looking into the reasons that led them to take the step.
