Tanker Driver Arrested in Varthur After Near-Miss With Motorcyclist

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have arrested a water tanker driver following a reckless driving incident that nearly mowed down a motorcyclist at Gunjur Palya in Varthur, located in the eastern part of the city.
The arrest came after footage of the incident was shared widely across social media platforms. The video captured the moment the tanker driver drove aggressively and almost ran over a two-wheeler rider who was moving along the left side of the road while attempting to navigate a large pothole filled with stagnant rainwater.
According to police, the motorcyclist, whose identity remains unknown, managed to react quickly. The rider displayed the presence of mind to maneuver away just in time, avoiding the water tanker's left wheels as the heavy vehicle surged past.
Following an investigation into the video footage, traffic police personnel tracked down and apprehended the vehicle's driver. The accused has been identified as 22-year-old Sohan Ali, a native of Assam.
Police officials noted that road safety remains a shared responsibility among all commuters and issued a warning to motorists against violating traffic rules and engaging in dangerous driving on city roads.
The incident has highlighted the difficult driving conditions in the area, where Varthur residents continue to deal with poor road conditions, waterlogged potholes, and hazardous traffic.
