SIR Electoral Revision Crosses 100 Percent Digitisation Milestone in Bengaluru

The enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) crossed 100% digitisation of forms on Sunday in Bengaluru. According to data from the Chief Electoral Officer's office, the milestone was reached following extensive mapping of voter records across the region.

Of the total forms digitised, over 1.76 crore electors successfully completed self-mapping, while 2.34 crore individuals were mapped as progeny. However, 33.61 lakh voters, representing 6.06% of the electorate, remain unmapped because they could not locate their own or their family members' names in the 2002 electoral rolls.

Alongside the enumeration drive, the CEO's office processed a heavy volume of individual claims and objections. Between June 16 and August 8, election authorities received 12.68 lakh forms seeking inclusion in the voter list, requests for deletion, or changes to existing details.

The vast majority of these submissions were for roll modifications and updating personal details. More than 8.37 lakh of the submitted documents were Form 8 applications, which electors use for requests such as shifting residence, correcting entries in the existing electoral roll, obtaining a replacement Voter ID card (EPIC), or marking an elector as a person with disability (PwD).
