Sanchith Sanjeev Makes Screen Debut in Kannada Crime Drama Mango Pachcha

The Kannada crime drama Mango Pachcha, which highlights drug pipelines running through Bengaluru networks, has received a 3.0 rating from critics for its strong emotional core. Directed by Sanchith Sanjeev and Viveka Prakash, the film marks the big-screen debut of Sanjeev, who is the nephew of star actor Kichcha Sudeep.

Set in Mysore during the 2000s, the movie follows Prashanth, also known as Pachcha, a simple CD rental shop owner. Following the death of his father, Pachcha's life takes a dramatic turn when he is introduced to his father's first family. This includes his legal half-brother Nagappa, played by Mayur Patel, and Nagappa's brother-in-law Sridhara.

Pachcha is gradually drawn into the family's secret marijuana business, which is hidden behind vast marigold farms. With mediation from Mysore Corporation Mayor Mahendra, Pachcha begins building a network of local boys to expand the operation. The film depicts the evolution of the local drug trade, showing how substances like Cochin tablets and LSD eventually enter Mysore through established Bengaluru networks.

Critics noted that while the film relies on familiar mass-hero tropes and a predictable rise within the crime world, it stands out due to its sensitive and mature emotional writing. The relationships between Pachcha and Nagappa, as well as the portrayal of Pachcha's mother Padma, played by Harini, and his girlfriend Suji, played by Kaajal Kunder, provide a grounded strength to the narrative.

The movie also heavily incorporates nostalgia from the 2000s era. Audiences are reintroduced to retro elements such as CD rental shops from the peak of movie piracy, BPL televisions, Maruti Zen cars, Softy ice cream machines, and early mobile phones.

Sanjeev's performance was highlighted as a confident debut with a strong screen presence, supported closely by Mayur Patel's performance as Nagappa. The film also stars Jai Gopinath as Pachcha's brother Shyama, and Hamsa Prathap.
