RPF Recovers Stolen Rs 1.2 Lakh Bike in Bengaluru After Two Months

A motorcycle that was stolen from the KSR Bengaluru railway station parking lot more than two months ago was successfully recovered by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Thursday.

Along with recovering the vehicle, which is valued at nearly Rs 1.2 lakh, authorities apprehended a 35-year-old man who allegedly committed the theft.

The owner of the stolen vehicle, Rakesh Chandran (name changed), is a resident of Jakkur. According to official reports, Chandran rode his Hero XPulse motorcycle, which features a Tamil Nadu registration, to the railway station on the morning of March 19. He parked the motorcycle near the main entrance of the station before leaving. However, when he returned to the parking lot later that same evening, he discovered that his motorcycle was missing.

Following the incident, Chandran lodged a formal complaint. The Government Railway Police (GRP), Bengaluru division, subsequently registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) to initiate an official investigation.

In their efforts to locate the missing motorcycle and identify the perpetrator, personnel from both the RPF and the GRP retrieved and analyzed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage. The investigators examined video feeds from cameras stationed around the KSR Bengaluru railway station as well as those located in nearby traffic rooms.

Despite these efforts, the investigation team was initially unable to track down either the suspect or the stolen vehicle. The breakthrough in the case came on Thursday when the team received a crucial tipoff. Based on specific inputs provided by the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB), the officers successfully traced the suspect and the stolen motorcycle to the Cottonpet area.

The apprehended suspect was identified as Suresh, a 35-year-old individual hailing from a village situated in the Ballari district. During his subsequent interrogation by the authorities, Suresh confessed to stealing the motorcycle from the station parking lot. Officials stated that they are now conducting further investigations to determine whether Suresh has been involved in similar vehicle theft incidents in Bengaluru in the past.
