RGUHS to Launch Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign at Kanteerava Stadium

The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is set to celebrate its 31st Foundation Day on Sunday at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, launching the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' campaign to promote a drug-free India.
The mega event, organised in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Dishabodh Foundation, is expected to draw a massive crowd of 25,000 students and university staffers.
Several high-profile dignitaries will attend the celebrations. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will serve as the chief guest, while Governor Thawaarchand Gehlot will preside over the function. DK Shivakumar and Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer are also scheduled to participate.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, RGUHS Vice Chancellor Dr. Bhagavan BC outlined the university's comprehensive strategy to combat drug abuse among students. The 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' and organ donation awareness campaigns have already expanded across 15 districts in Karnataka.
To ensure campuses remain drug-free, RGUHS has established dedicated committees in every affiliated college. These committees are tasked with tackling drug abuse and ensuring that drugs are not available in or around college premises.
Dr. Bhagavan emphasised that the university will focus on preventive measures. While disciplinary action will be taken against students found using drugs, the university will also provide mental health support, utilizing psychologists and psychiatrists to assist in student rehabilitation.
Additionally, the Vice Chancellor announced a new project, the Bheemanakuppe Research Centre, which will house the RAGUPAT-RGUHS Placement and Training Cell.
In preparation for the events, the Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued an advisory warning of slow-moving traffic around Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., where a related gathering of over 15,000 people is expected.
Congestion is anticipated on Seshadri Road, Nrupathunga Road, KG Road, KB Road, Vittal Mallya Road, and RRMR Road. Parking will be strictly prohibited on Seshadri Road, Nrupathunga Road, KG Road, KB Road, and Vasantha Mahal Road.
