Ramaiah Group to launch new RISM university campus in Devanahalli

The Ramaiah Group has announced the launch of a new greenfield deemed-to-be university, the Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM), which will establish its main campus in the Information Technology Investment Region near Devanahalli, Bengaluru. The new institution aims to expand higher education infrastructure in the city by offering an industry-embedded engineering curriculum and translational research opportunities.

The official launch of the university is scheduled for June 4, at which point the application process for prospective students will officially open. While the main Devanahalli campus is projected to be fully operational by September 2028, the university will begin its initial operations from a transit campus starting in August.

For its initial academic offerings, RISM will provide engineering courses focusing on computer science and artificial intelligence, aerospace engineering, and electrical sciences. To design these programs, the varsity has secured a collaboration with the University at Albany, State University of New York, which will act as the institution's knowledge partner.

MR Jayaram, the chairman of the Gokula Education Foundation—the organization that runs the Ramaiah group of institutions—emphasized the university's non-traditional approach to higher education. He stated that the varsity is designed to prepare students for global knowledge environments rather than focusing solely on conventional instructional methods. Jayaram noted that they are not building a centre for teaching, but rather a centre for learning.

Admission to the programs will be merit-based, relying on student rankings from the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) and the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (ComedK). The annual fees for the courses will range between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh, and the university will also provide merit-based scholarships to students.
