Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai Offers 100 Grams Gold to Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple

The family of Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai offered 100 grams of gold valued at Rs 15 lakh to the Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple in Puttur on Sunday. The contribution was made to support ongoing efforts to prepare a golden armour, known as a Swarna Kavacha, for the temple's deity.
Speaking during the event, Rai highlighted that devotees have held a long-standing desire to see the deity adorned with the Swarna Kavacha. He explained that the offering was made specifically to contribute toward the temple's initiative to fulfill this wish of the local worshipping community.
"I had earlier promised to offer 50 grams of gold. Now, I have offered 100 grams. I regularly offer prayers to Lord Mahalingeshwara and consider this offering a service to the deity," Rai said.
The Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple currently possesses around 6 kg of gold stored in its treasury. However, an additional 5 kg of gold is still required to fully complete the preparation of the Swarna Kavacha.
Rai stated that efforts will be made to gather the remaining required quantity of gold and complete the Swarna Kavacha for the deity within the next six months, depending on further contributions from devotees.
In addition to the offering made at the Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple in Puttur, Rai mentioned that 100 grams of gold was also offered to Goddess Mahishamardini at Matanthabettu.
