Priyank Kharge Announces Digital Infrastructure Upgrades for Karnataka Police

On June 20, 2026, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge announced plans to strengthen the state's digital infrastructure, intelligent systems, and institutional capacity for policing. The announcement followed his visit to the office of the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Communication, Logistics and Modernisation in Bengaluru, where he reviewed key policing and technology systems.

According to the minister, the state government looks forward to implementing these upgrades to ensure faster response times, better coordination, and more effective policing across Karnataka. During his visit, Kharge reviewed critical systems that support the connectivity, responsiveness, and operational readiness of the Karnataka State Police.

The review covered several key systems, including the wireless communication network, the 1930 Cyber Helpline, and the Namma 112 emergency response system. It also included an evaluation of motor transport operations and other ongoing modernisation initiatives.

A key focus of the minister's visit was assessing measures to strengthen the state's response to cyber fraud. Kharge evaluated strategies such as faster lien marking, closer coordination with banks, specialised training for police personnel, and a greater overall use of digital platforms.

Furthermore, the minister reviewed efforts to expand the digital wireless network, enhance police IT infrastructure, and strengthen forensic capabilities. These initiatives are being carried out as part of the state's broader police modernisation programme.

In a statement, Kharge emphasised that modern policing requires modern technology. He reiterated that the government will continue to strengthen digital infrastructure, intelligent systems, and institutional capacity to enable faster response times and better coordination across the state.
