Power breakdown halts Bengaluru metro services between Yeshwantpur and Madavara

A power breakdown on Tuesday morning disrupted Namma Metro services on Bengaluru's Green Line, leading to the temporary suspension of train operations between Yeshwantpur and Madavara. The service disruption began at approximately 8:00 AM, forcing the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to halt standard operations on this northern segment of the transit network.

To mitigate the impact of the power failure on daily commuters, the BMRCL quickly implemented alternative transit arrangements on the remaining portion of the Green Line. The metro operator began running short-loop services, which allowed trains to continue operating normally between the Silk Institute station and the Yeshwantpur station. This measure ensured that passengers traveling along the southern and central parts of the corridor still had access to metro services.

The suspension of train services between Yeshwantpur and Madavara meant that commuters relying on this specific northern corridor had to make alternative travel plans during the busy morning hours. The BMRCL communicated the details of the service disruption and the operational changes to the public via an official post on the social media platform X on Tuesday.

Following the incident, technical teams from the BMRCL were immediately dispatched to the affected section of the line. The corporation stated that its technical teams are actively working on-site to resolve the power breakdown and restore normal train operations along the entire Yeshwantpur to Madavara stretch at the earliest.

As the repair work continues, the short-loop train services remain active between Silk Institute and Yeshwantpur. Passengers traveling from the southern end of the city are currently unable to proceed past Yeshwantpur via the metro, and normal operations will only resume once the BMRCL technical teams complete their restoration efforts on the power systems.
