Police Detain 105 Illegal Immigrants in Whitefield and Electronic City Drive

Police personnel from the Whitefield and Electronic City divisions have detained 105 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly residing illegally in Bengaluru during a special operation. The joint drive across both police divisions involved checking residency documentation and background credentials.

In the Whitefield division, law enforcement officers deployed 397 personnel organized into 35 special teams. These teams verified 1,035 individuals, identifying 62 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants within the locality.

In the Electronic City division, 195 police personnel split into 23 special teams conducted verifications for 1,909 persons. That part of the drive identified 43 illegal immigrants.

Overall, the special operation mobilized 592 police personnel and 58 special teams across both divisions, verifying a total of 2,944 individuals.

Following the operation, all 105 identified persons were taken into custody in accordance with the prescribed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Officers subsequently produced the detained individuals before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) along with official reports for further legal action.

Police stated that the operation to identify Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally across the city remains ongoing. Authorities appealed to the public to contact their nearest police station or dial Namma 112 if they have any information regarding illegal immigrants.
