PM Modi Praises Bengaluru Street Vendor T.S. Ningamma in Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi featured Bengaluru street vendor T.S. Ningamma in the 137th episode of his monthly radio address, Mann Ki Baat, commending her journey of expanding a small food enterprise with the help of the PM SVANidhi scheme.
Ms. Ningamma and her husband had initially set up a small eatery selling traditional breakfast staples, including idli, dosa, and sambar, in Bengaluru. As customer demand grew and the venture began to gain traction, the couple required additional working capital to scale up their operations.
To meet their financial requirements, Ms. Ningamma secured financial assistance under the central government's PM SVANidhi scheme. The credit support enabled her to introduce improvements to the enterprise, invest in bulk purchases of raw ingredients, and broaden the food menu by introducing new offerings.
According to the Prime Minister, these operational changes attracted a larger customer base, boosted daily revenue, and significantly strengthened the family's financial stability.
Beyond business growth, the increased earnings enabled Ms. Ningamma to fund the education of her three children.
Highlighting her journey as an example of grassroots empowerment, Mr. Modi noted that when a woman's enterprise develops, it secures the future of the entire household while building self-reliance and confidence. He described Ms. Ningamma as a living example of women empowerment through micro-credit support.
