Pink Line Elevated Section Likely to Open in Early September

The elevated section of Namma Metro's Pink Line is now expected to open for commercial operations in the first week of September, subject to statutory clearances. The stretch had previously been scheduled to commence services on August 15.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director PC Jaffer stated that all physical and technical work on the elevated stretch from BMRCL's end has been completed. The remaining procedures include obtaining Railway Board approval for the rolling stock, which will be followed by a safety inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).

Jaffer indicated that the section could open in September once these final statutory clearances are secured, though the specific launch date will depend on the timing of the approvals.

Separately, Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda inspected the underground section of the Pink Line, which spans from Dairy Circle to Nagawara. The minister has set mid-2027 as the target completion date for the underground corridor.

BMRCL considers the mid-2027 timeline achievable for the underground stretch. Civil works on that corridor have finished, electrification is nearly complete, and signalling work is currently underway.
