Passenger Nabbed with 82g Gold in Mouth at Bengaluru Airport

CISF personnel arrested a passenger at Kempegowda International Airport early Wednesday morning after discovering approximately 82 grams of gold concealed inside his mouth.

The passenger, identified as Mohammed Siraj, arrived from Dubai at Terminal 2 aboard IndiGo flight 6E-1486. He was scheduled to take a connecting IndiGo flight, 6E-2518, from Terminal 1 to Ghaziabad.

Security personnel grew suspicious after noticing that Siraj appeared uncomfortable while speaking. They alerted officers stationed at the pre-embarkation security checkpoint at Terminal 1.

During a physical search, Sub-inspector Deepak Kumar Sharma recovered two capsules containing a solid gold-like metal from Siraj's mouth. The passenger had reportedly concealed the capsules there to avoid detection by airport body scanners.

The metal was verified as gold weighing around 82 grams. Siraj was subsequently handed over to the Kempegowda International Airport police for further legal action.

The incident follows an earlier seizure at the airport on August 20, when CISF officials arrested two passengers, Laxmana Devadiga and Raghavendra Devadiga. The duo had arrived from Bangkok on an IndiGo flight with approximately 260 grams of powdered gold and were booked on an onward flight to Ahmedabad. Police are investigating both cases of gold smuggling involving transit passengers travelling to other Indian cities.
