Out-of-State SIM Card Found in Prajwal Revanna's Barrack at Parappana Agrahara

A suspected organised network supplying out-of-state SIM cards and mobile phones to inmates has been uncovered inside Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Prison near Electronic City, following the discovery of an Andhra Pradesh-activated SIM card in the barrack of rape-case convict Prajwal Revanna.

According to sources, the SIM card had been active since March. Prajwal and another inmate, identified as Prathap Roy, allegedly used the device to access social media networks via the prison's Wi-Fi connection.

The findings have triggered an internal investigation after Prisons Department Director General of Police Alok Kumar demanded a detailed report examining how the phone breached the high-security barrack and whether any prison personnel assisted in smuggling it inside.

Prison authorities have intensified checks in recent months, seizing more than 300 mobile phones from the facility, with Airtel SIM cards featuring prominently among the recovered contraband.

Electronic City DCP Narayana stated that the seized materials have been forwarded to the technical cell for forensic examination. Police will conduct further questioning of both Prajwal Revanna and Prathap Roy once the technical analysis report is received.
