NITES Urges Labour Ministry to Intervene Over Wipro Freshers Onboarding Delay

IT sector employees' union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) approached the Ministry of Labour and Employment in Bengaluru on Thursday, seeking urgent intervention over delays in onboarding more than 200 freshers selected by Wipro under its Elite Hiring 2025 process.

In a letter addressed to the labour ministry, Harpreet Singh Saluja, president of NITES, stated that the affected candidates participated in Wipro’s campus recruitment drive on February 1, 2025. The candidates cleared the required technical and voice assessments before completing their interview process in July 2025.

Following the interview phase, the selected candidates were issued Offer Letters on July 22, 2025, and subsequently received Letters of Intent in August 2025. In December 2025, the candidates reconfirmed their interest in joining the company through an official survey conducted by Wipro.

The recruitment process continued into early 2026, when candidates appeared for and cleared the Codility technical assessment. They received official clearance notifications on March 24, 2026, followed by background verification links on March 25, 2026.

According to Saluja, the candidates completed all background verification procedures on March 26, 2026, which included resolving address verification queries on the same day. After completing these steps, the official Wipro candidate portal marked their background verification status as 100 percent complete with 'No Action Required'.

Despite completing all formal assessments and onboarding requirements, the candidates continue to await their official joining dates from the company.

Responding to the matter, Wipro issued a statement confirming that it remains committed to onboarding the selected freshers in line with its business requirements. The company added that it will continue to keep candidates informed regarding further updates on their onboarding timeline.
