Namrata Soni shares Bollywood beauty secrets at Mantri Square Mall masterclass

Celebrity makeup artist Namrata Soni recently hosted a beauty masterclass at Mantri Square Mall in Bengaluru to share the creative processes and secrets behind her iconic celebrity looks. Organized in collaboration with the mall, the event highlighted Soni's 27-year career working with prominent Bollywood stars and her perspective on makeup as a tool for personal transformation.

During the masterclass, Soni discussed her experiences designing looks for actors such as Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Shruti Haasan. She shared that her most memorable career moments occur when an actor looks in the mirror, transforms into a character, and feels a surge of confidence. She specifically recalled the global reaction to Sonam Kapoor's Cannes Film Festival appearances as milestone moments where makeup transcended beauty to become a form of storytelling.

Soni emphasized that the best makeup looks emerge from close collaboration. While some actors come with specific references and a clear vision, others allow her to take full creative control. She praised her first collaboration with Shruti Haasan, noting that Haasan's trust and openness made the process highly successful. Soni also revealed her aspirations to collaborate with international stars such as Meryl Streep, Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway due to their fearless approach to fashion and beauty.

In addition to sharing beauty tips, Soni spoke about her historic fight against industry prejudices. She recounted her efforts to challenge unspoken rules that previously prevented women from working as makeup artists on film sets in India. Soni stated that the battle was about ensuring fairness, and winning it has allowed a new generation of women to thrive in the film industry.

For aspiring makeup artists, Soni offered practical advice, urging them to focus on mastering basic techniques rather than chasing viral social media trends. She explained that understanding skin preparation, blending, and proper placement is far more important than owning expensive products. According to Soni, a quality foundation is a worthwhile investment, but individuals only need about five right products used well to achieve great results, with confidence serving as the ultimate finishing touch.
