My Chicken and More Opens 39th Store in Ullal as Founder Wins VK Award

Fresh meat and seafood retail brand My Chicken and More has expanded its presence in Bengaluru with the opening of its 39th outlet in Ullal on September 23. Alongside the retail expansion, the company's founder and chief executive officer, Mahesh Ram, was presented the VK Excellence and Honour Award by Deepak Saluja, chief executive officer of Vijay Karnataka and Bangalore Mirror.

The award recognised the brand's focus on introducing hygiene, quality standards, and organised retail practices to the poultry and seafood sector. First launched in 2007 under the motto "Business with Hygiene," the company began operations after Ram observed poor sanitation, the use of low-quality water, and an absence of trained personnel across unorganised meat and fish markets.

Ram noted that the enterprise faced customer hesitation during its early days, as many shoppers initially assumed the modern showroom was an expensive store and were unaccustomed to purchasing fresh meat in such settings. From an initial team of four workers, the company has since grown to employ around 600 people, all of whom undergo training to adhere to hygiene protocols and customer service standards.

The chain operates both online and offline retail channels across the city. Its air-conditioned brick-and-mortar stores keep products stored at low temperatures to ensure freshness, allowing shoppers, including women and families, to inspect products in an organised environment before purchasing. The company's outlets have secured customer ratings of 4.8 and 4.9 on Google.

Looking ahead, the retail chain intends to expand beyond Bengaluru into other major Karnataka cities, with Mysuru and Mangaluru under active consideration. While the firm has also received expansion enquiries from Hyderabad and Chennai, company leadership plans to consolidate its retail footprint across Karnataka before establishing operations in neighbouring states.
