Muslim-AHINDA Forums Accuse Karnataka Congress Government Of Injustice

In June 2026, the Federation of Like-minded Organisations of Dakshina Kannada District accused the Congress-led Karnataka government of injustice, alleging that the ruling party has failed to uphold its promises to minority and backward communities. The forums expressed strong dissatisfaction over the lack of adequate representation for Muslims and the AHINDA (minorities, backward classes, and Dalits) groups in the state's political and administrative systems.

Speaking on the issue, Bharatesh Bajal, the president of AHINDA Mangaluru, stated that it is deeply painful that the Congress government in Karnataka, which came to power on the plank of social justice, AHINDA principles, and minority rights, has ignored the aspirations of the minority Muslim community and the AHINDA section. He emphasized that it has been a long-standing demand of their organisations that minorities must get adequate representation in the state's administrative and political system.

A key point of contention raised by the forums is the cabinet placement of Congress leader BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan. Bajal described Khan as a strong voice for the Muslim community who has consistently raised community issues at the government level and contributed significantly to the growth of the Congress party. The forum leaders argued that not offering him a more prominent position in the cabinet and overlooking him during the first phase of the cabinet expansion is a great injustice to the community.

Lolaksha, the president of the Confederation of SCs' and STs' Organisations, echoed these concerns. He stated that a government that came to power with the support of minorities, backward classes, and AHINDA communities neglecting those very sections during the distribution of power goes against the core spirit of social justice. According to Lolaksha, this is not just an injustice to an individual, but a blatant disregard for the sentiments of lakhs of minority voters.

To resolve these grievances, the federation has urged the state government and the Congress high command to ensure that representation is given to the Muslim community in the cabinet and key administrative posts. The group has specifically demanded that the community be granted at least five cabinet berths and that BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan be appointed to the position of Deputy Chief Minister.
