Municipal Marshal Assaulted Over Garbage Dumping in Byatarayanapura Ward

A municipal marshal was allegedly assaulted in Byatarayanapura Ward after confronting a local resident who was dumping garbage near a lake early in the morning.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred between 5.50 am and 6.20 am when Venkatesh R, a municipal marshal posted in Byatarayanapura Ward, spotted Amruthnagar resident Vijay Kumar allegedly dumping garbage near the water body.

When Venkatesh questioned him regarding the illegal disposal of waste, Kumar allegedly verbally abused the marshal, slapped him on the cheek, and tore his uniform.

Following a complaint regarding the altercation, the police registered a case against Kumar and launched an investigation into the matter.

The enforcement action and subsequent police proceedings were initiated following directions from Pommala Sunil Kumar, Commissioner of the Bengaluru North City Corporation.
