MP CN Manjunath Seeks Solution for Mobile Disruptions Near Parappana Agrahara Prison

Bengaluru Rural Member of Parliament Dr CN Manjunath has written to Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M Scindia and met Department of Telecommunications Secretary Amit Agarwal to resolve severe mobile and internet connectivity issues faced by residents near Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.

The widespread disruption in the areas surrounding the prison complex in Parappana Agrahara follows the installation of a Tower-Harmonious Call Blocking System along with high-frequency Wi-Fi jammers designed to restrict unauthorised communications from inside the facility.

Taking to social media platform X, Manjunath stated that the signal blockages have caused considerable difficulties for local residents in their daily routines. The lack of reliable network access has proved particularly problematic during medical emergencies, as well as for students attending online classes and employees working from home.

The MP also emphasized the regional impact given the area's proximity to Electronics City, a major corporate hub in Bengaluru. The presence of the commercial centre makes stable cellular and internet connectivity essential for both local residents and working professionals in the surrounding neighborhoods.

While affirming that maintaining prison security and preventing illegal communications by inmates remains of utmost importance, Manjunath argued that legitimate communication access for neighboring communities must also be protected. He requested officials at the Department of Telecommunications to review the matter and explore a suitable technical solution to resolve the signal interference.
