Minor fire on signboard at Nagasandra Metro station in Bengaluru causes panic

A minor fire broke out on a signboard near the emergency exit of the Nagasandra Metro station on the Green Line in Bengaluru on Sunday. The incident triggered panic among the commuters present at the station, though no casualties were reported.

The fire was first noticed at approximately 1:30 p.m. Immediately after the flames were spotted, Metro station staff rushed to the scene. The staff attempted to contain and control the minor fire using the fire extinguishers available at the station.

The fire and emergency services received an alert regarding the incident at around 1:40 p.m. In response to the call, personnel from the Peenya Fire Station rushed to the Nagasandra Metro station with a water tanker and successfully extinguished the flames.

To ensure public safety, precautionary measures were put in place during the incident. According to the police, passengers at the metro station were actively prevented from heading towards the area where the signboard was located.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) later confirmed the incident in an official statement.

Officers from the Bagalagunte police station also visited the metro station to inspect the spot. A senior police officer stated that BMRCL officials did not wish to lodge a formal complaint, noting that there was no major loss caused by the fire.
