MBA Graduate Arrested in Sampige Layout for Printing Fake Rs 500 Notes

The Huliyaru Police have arrested a 41-year-old MBA graduate from Sampige Layout, Gangondanahalli, in Bengaluru, for allegedly printing and circulating counterfeit Rs 500 currency notes. Rudresh, who is a repeat offender previously arrested in 2024, was apprehended following a dramatic search at his residence after he allegedly used a fake note on July 2.

The investigation began after Rudresh allegedly used a counterfeit Rs 500 note to purchase cigarettes in Huliyaru village on July 2. Following the trail of the fake currency, a team of police officers from the Huliyaru Police station tracked the suspect to his residence in Bengaluru's Sampige Layout, Gangondanahalli.

Upon arriving at the house, the police team faced resistance from Rudresh's parents, who attempted to prevent the officers from searching the property. Despite a long and detailed search of the house, the police officers were initially unable to locate Rudresh.

The officers continued their search and eventually discovered that Rudresh's parents had hidden him inside a box bed in the house. He was immediately detained by the police.

According to police records, Rudresh was previously part of a counterfeit currency racket that was busted by the Davanagere Police in 2024. That gang had allegedly printed and circulated nearly Rs 20 lakh worth of counterfeit currency within a three-month period before its six members, including Rudresh, were arrested and sent to jail.

The police suspect that after his release from prison, Rudresh resumed his counterfeit currency operations. The illicit network is suspected of circulating fake Rs 500 notes across Bengaluru, Tumakuru, and several other places in the region.

The Huliyaru Police have registered a case and are interrogating Rudresh to ascertain the full extent of the counterfeit currency network and to identify other accomplices. Another accused individual involved in the operation is currently on the run, and the police are continuing their search to trace him.
