Man stabs 18-year-old woman in Ramagondanahalli after marriage rejection

An 18-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times by her former boyfriend inside her house in Ramagondanahalli, near Whitefield, on Thursday morning after she rejected his marriage proposal. The attack, which occurred around 9:30 AM, resulted in both the victim and the suspect being hospitalized with severe injuries.
The victim, identified as Nandini Das, had her marriage arranged with another man by her parents. This decision reportedly upset the accused, 18-year-old Bande Nawaz, who had been in a relationship with Das. The police stated that the two had known each other for the past three years and had previously studied together at a private school.
According to the police, Nawaz arrived at Das's residence when her parents were away from the home. Before launching the attack, Nawaz allegedly locked Das's two younger brothers inside a room to prevent them from intervening. He then confronted Das in the hall of the house.
When Das rejected his proposal, Nawaz allegedly produced a knife and stabbed her multiple times. The police reported that she sustained injuries to her neck, hands, ribs, and thighs. Following the violent assault on Das, Nawaz allegedly turned the knife on himself in an attempt to commit suicide.
Despite sustaining multiple stab wounds, Das managed to run out of the house to call for help. Hearing her screams, neighbours quickly alerted the local police. Responding officers rushed to the scene and shifted both the victim and the accused to separate medical facilities.
Das is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries at Manipal Hospital. Nawaz was admitted to Vydehi Hospital. Police noted that Nawaz worked as a driver in Whitefield and was residing in Tubarahalli, Varthur.
The Bengaluru Police have registered a case of attempted murder against Nawaz under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
