Man Kills Two Daughters at Taj Bangalore Hotel Near Airport, Attempts Suicide

A 45-year-old cab company manager allegedly strangulated his two daughters, aged 10 and 8, inside a room at the Taj Bangalore hotel near the Kempegowda International Airport on Monday afternoon before attempting suicide. The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) police registered a murder case against the accused, SG Imran, following a complaint filed by the hotel manager.

Imran, who attempted to end his life by cutting his throat, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police officials stated that he will be taken into custody once medical professionals grant clearance. Investigators also recovered a note at the scene in which Imran expressed suspicions regarding his wife's fidelity.

According to police sources, Imran had been living separately from his wife, Sana, for the past two months due to severe marital discord. Sana, who works at a private firm, had initiated khula—a legal procedure under Islamic law allowing a wife to initiate divorce—citing his suspicious nature. The couple, married for 12 years, were also engaged in fights regarding property and the custody of their daughters.

Under an arrangement reached between the couple and their families, the two girls stayed with their mother from Monday to Friday, while Imran was permitted to take them on weekends. Last Friday, Imran took the children as per the agreement but failed to bring them back on Sunday. Shortly before the killings on Monday afternoon, Sana called her elder daughter over the phone, and the child told her mother that they would be leaving the hotel shortly and returning home.

Following the incident, police launched an investigation and recorded Sana's statement. The autopsies of the two young girls were conducted on Tuesday at Victoria Hospital. The children were buried at the Tannery Road Muslim graveyard later that evening.
