An unidentified man secretly filmed a 28-year-old resident inside her apartment bathroom in Green Glen Layout, Bengaluru, on May 31. The local police have initiated a full investigation to track down the suspect, who managed to flee the spot after the victim noticed the recording device and raised an alarm.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. while the woman was taking a bath in her apartment. According to the complaint filed with the police, the victim was shocked to notice a mobile phone positioned near her bathroom window. Upon closer inspection, she realised that the device was being actively used to record a video of her.

In her statement to the authorities, the victim provided specific details about the phone and the perpetrator. She observed that the mobile phone used for the secret recording was sea-green in colour and featured a dual-camera setup. She also managed to catch a brief glimpse of the suspect, noting that he was wearing a grey T-shirt.

As soon as she realised she was being filmed, the woman raised an alarm to alert others in the building. However, the suspect fled the premises immediately, evading identification and capture before anyone could stop him.

Following the report, the police registered a formal case against the unidentified man. The charges filed include Section 66E of the Information Technology (IT) Act, which pertains to the punishment for violation of privacy, and Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses the offence of voyeurism.

A senior police official stated that investigators are actively working on the case. As part of the ongoing probe, officers are verifying footage from CCTV cameras installed within the apartment building as well as those in the surrounding areas of Green Glen Layout to secure clues and identify the suspect.
