Man Arrested After Stabbing Home Guard Manjula 20 Times in Mahadevapura

A 32-year-old home guard was stabbed to death by her husband on Sunday evening at her parental residence in B Narayanapura, Mahadevapura, after he lured her into a reconciliation meeting. The victim, Manjula, who was attached to the Mahadevapura police station, was stabbed approximately 20 times by her husband, Pradeep, in front of their two children and family members.
According to the police, Pradeep had become addicted to online betting and was facing severe financial and family issues. Prior to the attack, he recorded a selfie video claiming that his betting habit had ruined his family and stating that both he and his wife would die.
Manjula had been living separately at her parental home in B Narayanapura following years of marital discord. Family members alleged that Pradeep frequently harassed her, suspected her character, and questioned the paternity of their children. Unable to bear the harassment, she had moved away from him.
On Sunday, Pradeep visited Manjula’s residence claiming he wanted to apologize and reconcile, and requested her to return home. However, police stated that he had concealed a knife inside his jacket.
During an argument, when Manjula moved near him, Pradeep pulled her close and stabbed her repeatedly, inflicting around 20 knife wounds. Following the assault, the accused slashed his own hand in an attempt to harm himself before fleeing the scene. Manjula succumbed to her injuries.
In the selfie video recorded before the incident, Pradeep stated: "I had called my in-laws and spoken to them to solve the issues between us. I knew she would return home after work in the evening. When I apologise to her, if she refuses to come back to me, I will immediately kill her."
Following the incident, the Mahadevapura Police registered a murder case and launched a manhunt. Officers successfully traced and arrested Pradeep. Manjula's body was sent for a post-mortem examination as further investigations continue.
