Lokayukta BS Patil Orders Bengaluru Officials to Prioritise Garbage and Drainage Issues

On Friday, Karnataka Lokayukta BS Patil visited several areas in Bengaluru, including RT Nagar, Byatarayanapura, and Anandanagar, and directed Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) officials to address unscientific garbage disposal on a priority basis. The directive follows a surge of complaints regarding waste management issues across five city corporations.

During the inspection, the Lokayukta team identified six garbage black spots located in and around RT Nagar, Byatarayanapura, and Anandanagar. To systematically tackle the widespread waste management issues, five dedicated teams have been established to study the garbage disposal challenges across the five city corporations.

In addition to garbage dumping, residents of Vishveshwarayanagar raised concerns about local infrastructure. They complained to the Lokayukta that the storm water drain overflows during rainfall, which subsequently floods their houses with drain water.

Following these complaints, Lokayukta BS Patil instructed the concerned local authorities to resolve the flooding and waste issues quickly. The officials have been directed to submit a report on the actions taken to address these civic grievances.
