Lalbagh Hosts Kala Vana Art Exhibition to Fund Dialysis Machine for Poor Patients

Lalbagh Botanical Garden hosted a 10-day all-India art exhibition, 'Kala Vana: Art for a Cause', from August 7 to 16 alongside the annual Independence Day Flower Show. The initiative was organised to raise funds for procuring a dialysis machine to assist patients from economically weaker households.

The event marked the first time in the history of Lalbagh Botanical Garden that the venue opened its grounds to host the mega art exhibition. The initiative was envisioned and executed jointly by lead clubs Rotary Bengaluru Kanakapura Road and Rotary Bengaluru Samruddhi, with active support from more than 26 Rotary clubs across both districts.

The botanical garden was transformed into an open-air gallery amidst lush greenery and floral displays, providing a setting that blended nature and fine art. A total of 27 artists from across the country participated in the exhibition, presenting their artwork and conducting live demonstrations. Visitors were able to view a spectrum of artistic styles and mediums, encompassing both traditional and classic forms.

Throughout the festival, regular days featured three distinct artists daily. The event culminated in a grand finale during the Independence Day weekend, when more than 10 artists were showcased simultaneously each day.

On August 12, the organisers set up a special exhibition stall dedicated specifically to specially-abled children. The inclusion was arranged to provide young, differently-abled artists with a dignified platform to exhibit their talents, build self-confidence, and engage directly with the public.

Participating artists noted the significant visibility they received from the large crowds visiting Lalbagh during the flower show. Uma Satya, President of Rotary Bengaluru Kanakapura Road, confirmed that the exhibition's proceeds would go towards buying a dialysis machine for underprivileged families and shared her appreciation for the response from art enthusiasts and creators.

Prathima NT, Secretary of Rotary Bengaluru Kanakapura Road, stated that artists had arrived from Karnataka and various other states, noting that 15 artists participated on Saturday and three specially-abled children took part in the event.
