KSCA Appoints Former Captain Vinay Kumar as Karnataka Senior Men's Head Coach

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in Bengaluru on Thursday appointed former captain Vinay Kumar as the head coach of the Karnataka senior men's cricket team. The appointment follows the recommendations of the association's Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

The 42-year-old Vinay replaces 54-year-old Yere Goud, who has joined the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) as a batting coach. Deepak Chougule has been named the fielding coach for the senior men's side.

Vinay previously captained Karnataka to domestic dominance, leading the state to back-to-back double trebles—winning the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, and Vijay Hazare Trophy—during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.

Speaking on his appointment, Vinay stated that it was a privilege to lead Karnataka first as a captain and now as a head coach. He noted that his prior coaching stints with MI Emirates and Hubli Tigers, alongside his work as a talent scout with Mumbai Indians, have provided him with valuable experience working with top coaches.

The Davanagere-born cricketer emphasized the importance of building team culture and returning domestic silverware, particularly the Ranji Trophy, to Karnataka. He expressed confidence that the team would achieve strong results if they played to their potential.

The KSCA also announced coaching appointments across other age categories and the women's teams. For the men's setup, Ganesh Satish has been named head coach for the Under-23 team with Rajshekar Shanbal as fielding coach. Kunal Kapoor will serve as the Under-19 head coach with Raajoo Bhatkal as bowling coach. The Under-16 team will be led by head coach Adithya B Sagar and assistant coach CB Karthik, while M Guruprasad takes charge of the Under-14 team with KV Bharat as assistant coach.

In the women's ranks, SN Ameet has been appointed head coach for both the senior and Under-23 teams, working with fielding coaches Rakshitha Krishnappa and Srivalli respectively. Mukunda G has been named Under-19 head coach with Roopa BN as assistant coach, while M Guruprasad and Chandu V will handle the Under-15 team as head coach and assistant coach.
