Krishna Byre Gowda Felicitates 181 High-Performing Students in Bengaluru

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda felicitated 181 high-performing students, including a student who secured a perfect score of 625 out of 625 in the SSLC examination, at a ceremony organised in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The 'Pratibha Puraskar' programme was organised by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) in association with the Bengaluru Urban District Zilla Panchayat under the Nammuru Hemme initiative. As part of the special recognition, the top five SSLC performers and the top three PU achievers were presented with tablets, while all 181 felicitated students received certificates, medals, and mementoes.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Gowda stated that scoring more than 99% was no ordinary achievement and reflected years of discipline, hard work, and perseverance. He noted that such achievements were possible only through sustained effort and emphasized that it is the city's responsibility to celebrate such academic talent.

The Pratibha Puraskar programme was open to Bengaluru residents who performed exceptionally across SSLC, Pre-University (PU), and Central-syllabus examinations. To be eligible, students had to secure at least 621 marks in SSLC, 596 marks in PU, or 496 marks in classes 10 and 12 under the Central syllabus.

Speaking to reporters after the event, Mr. Gowda also addressed the upcoming Ganesha Chaturthi festival, urging citizens to refrain from using Plaster of Paris (POP) idols in the interest of the city. He requested the public not to violate the law and to celebrate in an environmentally responsible manner. Regarding the use of loud music and DJs during the festival, the Minister stated that he would hold a meeting with the city police department and issue directions accordingly.
